A PRECISE GESTURE, A LIVING MATERIAL.

Our GYPSET earrings are born from an exceptional technique: plique-à-jour. A craft among the most demanding in enameling, where light becomes matter.

Its creation follows several essential steps, blending artisanal skill and technical precision.

Cutting & shaping: The piece is cut from a brass sheet, then shaped according to the defined model. The partitions, thin metal strips, are carefully soldered to create the cells that will hold the enamel.

Enameling: The enamel is applied by hand, layer after layer, in each cell. This transparent enamel plays with the light.

Firing: The piece is fired at a high temperature. The enamel vitrifies, suspended within the partitions without any backing. This is where all the magic of plique-à-jour lies.

Removal of the backing: Once cooled, the piece is freed from its temporary base. The enamel, set within its cells, allows light to pass through like a miniature stained-glass window.

Polishing & Finishing: The surfaces are carefully burnished. The metal is then successively immersed in a copper bath, then in 18k gilding, to reveal the full brilliance of the piece.

The material vibrates, captures the sunlight, and evokes faraway places.
